I did a difficult full-body pose study this time :3
I'm in a bit of an art dilemma right now... I have two artstyles and I'd like to combine them, but drawing characters in colour is scary cause there are all these complex lighting considerations you need to make, especially with the skin (sub-surface scattering TwT)
There's also the issue that my artstyles have two completely different philosophies. My manga artstyle says "you must represent everything using lines", but my landscape artstyle says "the world is NOT made of lines, draw the effect of detail rather than the detail itself". They just don't fit together!
So I yapped about it to my friend who's good at art and he said "look at Studio Ghibli for the blending between the subject and the background". Of course!! So right now I'm studying how Studio Ghibli does things and omggg these artists are on a whole different level >w<

a partially completed version of the above. Half of the lineart is done and the rough sketch layers are still visible.
Here's a sneak peek of my workflow where the lineart is partially done, but I also have a rough sketch of the body (blue) and clothes/hair (pink). Maybe next time I should make more considerations to lighting and motion during the sketch phase.

A friend actually took the reference photo for this one, I don't see pine trees often so I absolutely had to draw this, the whole scene is just so pretty <3. I spent 3 days working on this one and while there are a few mistakes and the grass is a bit rushed, I'm overall pretty happy with how it turned out ^w^

Drawing people is hard... I was trying and trying but I just don't understand how to get the jawline right so I ragequit, went for a walk, snapped a pretty pic, and drew this landscape. It looks almost better than the reference photo??

Sometimes you have to stop being afraid of failure and just go for it. I'm learning this new artstyle where I use marks instead of lines because the world is NOT made of uniform lines and I also draw the effect of detail rather than all the detail which allows the brain to do the rest of the work. My entire view on how I make art has just been turned upside down but here's how it's going.
